Why do teams look for Medius alternatives?
Usually because of how Medius is priced, sold or scoped, as set out on Medius’s own pages.
- Medius publishes no prices: AP Essentials and AP 360 are quote-only, and its pricing page does not mention a trial. [source: Medius pricing]
- AP Essentials covers one entity, and Copilot and the Supplier Portal are only in AP 360. [source: Medius pricing]
- QuickBooks Online and Xero are not named among its 100+ ERP connectors. [source: Medius, why Medius]

Which alternative fits which team?
There is no single best choice; each tool is built for a different job.
- Stampli: Closest like-for-like if you want a quote-based AP suite on one of its 70+ ERPs.
- AvidXchange: For middle-market companies that want AP and supplier payments from one provider.
- Basware: For large organizations that need e-invoicing across countries and run several ERPs.
- Yooz: For teams that want a free trial first and pricing by document volume.
- Aequo AP: For teams on QuickBooks Online, Xero, FreshBooks, Zoho Books and Business Central that want published pricing, unlimited users and 3-way matching without a sales cycle.
When is Medius the better choice?
Stay with Medius, or choose it, if one of these describes you.
- You run SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Infor or Sage; Medius says it has 100+ ERP connectors. [source: Medius, why Medius]
- You want supplier tools inside the AP suite; Medius AP 360 includes a Supplier Portal. [source: Medius pricing]
Known limitations of each tool
Every tool here has gaps, Aequo AP included. Each limitation below comes from the vendor’s own pages, or from what those pages leave out.
- Medius: Quote only with no trial; AP Essentials covers one entity, and Copilot and the supplier portal are only in AP 360 [source: Medius pricing]
- Stampli: No published prices or trial; buying runs through a quote request, and Xero is not on its ERP list [source: Stampli pricing]
- AvidXchange: Pricing is not published, and Xero is not among the integrations it names [source: AvidXchange integrations]
- Basware: No published pricing or trial, and its ERP page does not name QuickBooks, Xero or Business Central [source: Basware, ERP integrations]
- Yooz: No US price is published, and which edition includes PO matching and payments is not stated [source: Yooz pricing (US)]
- Aequo AP: Does not pay vendors yet (coming soon); Oracle NetSuite and Sage Intacct are early access only; no PO approvals or procurement; prices are in US dollars
What it costs: a worked example for 500 invoices a month and 5 people who approve them
Per-user pricing grows with every approver, per-transaction fees grow with volume, and flat plans grow by tier. Price your own numbers before you switch.

|---|---|
| Medius | Quote only [source: Medius pricing] |
| Stampli | Quote only [source: Stampli pricing] |
| AvidXchange | Quote only [source: AvidXchange FAQ] |
| Basware | Quote only [source: Basware pricing] |
| Yooz | Not published (priced by document volume) [source: Yooz pricing (US)] |
| Aequo AP | $699 a month on Growth (up to 1000 documents, 3-way matching), the same for 5 approvers or 50 |
When is Aequo AP not the right fit?
Aequo AP is AP automation for SMB and mid-market teams: capture, PO matching, approvals and exceptions. It is the wrong choice in these cases.
- You want a vendor-led implementation with a dedicated services team and supplier portal. Aequo AP is self-serve, with a setup call if you want one.
- You need a generally available connector for an ERP other than QuickBooks Online, Xero, FreshBooks, Zoho Books and Business Central. Oracle NetSuite and Sage Intacct are in early access for selected teams, and Acumatica, SAP Business One and QuickBooks Desktop are in development.
- You want one tool that also pays vendors today. Aequo AP vendor payments are coming soon; until then you pay approved bills from your accounting system or bank.
How we chose and compared these tools
We compared 6 tools for teams replacing or comparing Medius using each vendor’s own public pages, read on 2026-10-30 and 2026-11-02. Aequo AP publishes this page and includes its own product, so every limitation and price is shown the same way for every tool.
- Which tools. The tools that search results and AI assistants name most often for this question, plus the accounting system’s own features where they cover the job. Each has a public product page.
- What we compared. Why teams look for Medius alternatives, from Medius’s own pricing and product pages. Pricing model, free trial, purchase-order matching, accounting system coverage and target company size for each alternative. One documented limitation per tool, and the monthly cost at 500 invoices and 5 approvers.
- Where facts come from. Each competitor fact links to the vendor’s own page ([source]). If a page did not say something, we write “not published” or “not mentioned” rather than guess. Prices are list prices.
- Disclosure. Aequo AP is our product. Its row comes from our pricing page and product, it is not ranked first, and its limitations are listed with everyone else’s. No vendor paid to be included or reviewed this page.
- Updates. We re-check every vendor page at least once a quarter and change the date when the content changes. Spot something out of date? Email support@nexusap.com and we will check it.
